Ausable River Two-Fly Challenge
Held on the West Branch Ausable River in Wilmington, this two day event is a catch-and-release experience that gets fly fishermen together to enjoy a wonderful day on the river and raise funds to protect the fishery for future generations. May 17-18.

9th Annual Lake Placid Marathon & Half
Sunday, June 9th the Lake Placid Marathon and Half Marathon will again attract athletes and spectators from all over North American and the World. Designed to be similar to the Lake Placid Ironman triathlon run course, the race begins in the Olympic Village on Main St. and proceeds around Mirror Lake for the first 3 miles before heading out of town to the Horse Show Grounds, Ski Jump area and River Road along the Ausable River and back. The course is very scenic with a backdrop of Whiteface Mountain and the High Peaks Mountain ranges. The race finishes with a lap around the Sheffield Olympic Oval where speed skater Eric Heiden captured 5 individual gold medals at the 1980 Winter Olympics.

Whiteface Mountain Uphill Bike Race
If you like a challenge, then this is the course for you! This USATF certified course runs 11 miles with a 8% grade up Whiteface Mountain's scenic Veteran's Memorial Highway. The starting line is at Whiteface Mountain Ski center and ends at the Castle on top of Whiteface.
June 15 starting at 8:00 am.

Wilmington/Whiteface 100k
On June 16, the town of Wilmington hosts this event which serves as one of three qualifier series race host venues for the Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race, the best known and most prestigious mountain bike race in North America.

Lake Placid & I Love NY Horse Shows
June 25-30 marks the kick off to the 44th annual Lake Placid Horse Show followed by the I Love NY Horse Show July 2-7.
Come experience two of the nation's most prominent equestrian events and watch as world class riders and horses vie for over $470,000 in prize money and awards in championship Hunter and Jumper competitions.

4th of July Parade and Set the Night to Music Fireworks Celebration
Anyone and everyone is invited to participate in the annual Independence Day Celebration, parade and fireworks.
Parade: 4:30 pm on Cummins Rd, then down Main St. to High Peaks Resort
Hosted by WSLP, fireworks over Mirror Lake begin promptly at 9:45 pm

I Love Barbeque & Music Fest
July 4-6, 2012
The eighth annual ILBBQF event hosts International and National level barbecue and grilling competition to benefit the Shipman Youth Center of Lake Placid. The competition is sanctioned byt he Kansas City Barbecue Society, the world's largest organization of barbecue and grilling enthusiasts.
This year's festival will also include music, children's activities, arts and crafts, vendor exposition, food demonstrations and celebrity appearances.

Ironman Lake Placid
On July 28 athletes from around the worl all descend on the alpine village of Lake Placid to test their limits in the 15th annual Ironman Lake Placid. A favorite among competitors, the Lake Placid Ironman is the second oldest Ironmanin North America and one of the most popular courses. This is a spectator friendly event!!!

Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse
Started in 1990, this tournament now attacts 150+ teams to the Lake Placid area each year. It has truly become a unique mix of competition, socialization, vacation, and reunion all wrapped into one.
