Cosmic Hockey

Cosmic Hockey debuts to the public on Friday, December 18, 2026, at the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena inside the Lake Placid Olympic Center, and it plays nothing like a regular hockey game. Two original teams, the Chilly Peppers and the Neon Miracles, take the ice for two periods under modified rules designed to showcase pure skill and creativity.

Period one looks like hockey as you know it, under standard arena lighting. Period two flips the switch: UV black lights take over, and glow-reactive uniforms, equipment, and pucks turn the rink into a live light show. This is the follow-up to Cosmic Baseball, which pulled in more than 750,000 fans across a 30-city tour earlier in 2026, and Lake Placid gets to host the very first Cosmic Hockey game before the tour heads to Hershey, Indianapolis, and Toledo in January 2027.

Get there two hours early for the free Block Party at the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval, where the public can catch live music, meet the players, and skate on the Oval before puck drop.
