Have all the fun this Presidents Week

The kids are out of school, the snow is falling, and with so much happening in and around the High Peaks this is the perfect time to get away for a family vacation in the Adirondacks.

The High Peaks region has big plans for your Presidents Week vacation. While staying at Lake House, add one or all of these special events and activities to your agenda and celebrate winter in the Adirondacks.

Life as we SNOW it: Winter Week at The Wild Center

In the summer, The Wild Center's Wild Walk is one of the regions most popular destinations, but you're missing out if you don't make a weekend trip to the Wild Center in winter as well. From snowshoe exploration and naturalist-guided expeditions to indoor exhibits like the world-famous river otters and Hall of the Adirondacks, you can spend all day playing in the snow or come inside to warm up with fascinating exhibits on Adirondack natural history! Stay tuned for our upcoming blog, Getting WILD this Winter.

Adirondack Sleigh Rides

Is there anything better than a sleigh ride through a snowy, quiet forest? It's the kind of winter pastime that songs are written about and if you caught our latest blog you know we're big fans of Adirondack Sleigh Rides by Country Dreams Farm. This Presidents Week, George, Melissa and a paired team of Belgian draft horses will be at John Brown's Farm to give you plenty of time to go dashing through the snow!

Great Backyard Bird Count at the Paul Smiths VIC

Guests often ask us, "what can we do with our young children?" Maybe they aren't quite old enough to join you rushing down the mountain, maybe you're looking for a more carefree and relaxed day. If you're looking to combine education and the great outdoors, look no further than the Paul Smiths VIC this Presidents Week. Despite cold winter temperatures and snowy conditions, the year-round population of birds in the Adirondack Mountains greatly outnumbers people. The Great Backyard Bird Count is a great way to get outside with your family and enjoy one of the world's most popular sports and provide the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society vital information on the health of bird populations in the North Country.
