Lake Placid Horse Shows

You don't need to know the sport to get pulled into a show jumping round. Horse and rider take on a course of fences approaching five feet, racing a clock, where one clipped rail can undo an otherwise clean trip. The Lake Placid Horse Shows run this for two full weeks every summer. The Lake Placid Horse Show comes first, June 23 to 28, 2026, in its 57th year, followed by the I Love NY Horse Show from June 30 to July 5. Both carry FEI sanctioning, the sport's international level, so the riders and horses working the ring on Cascade Road are among the best competing anywhere.

The best part is how close you can get to it. This isn't a sport watched from the far end of a stadium. Spectators stand near the rings, close enough to hear the horses land, and High Peaks Resort sponsors one of the jumper classes during the run. You don't have to be a rider, or even a fan, to enjoy an afternoon of it. Community Appreciation Day on June 27 brings free admission and family activities, the grounds are a short drive from the resort, and you're back in town in minutes when you're done. Summer fills up fast in Lake Placid, so reserve your stay early.
