WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series
Lake Placid hosts the finale of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series from October 2 to 4, 2026. It's the last race of the season, so the sport's overall titles are decided right here in the Adirondacks. The cross-country races run at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, on the same Olympic grounds as the bobsled track, with a course that winds past the lake and through the woods. The downhill racing takes place at Whiteface Mountain, where riders fly down the mountain on a course that debuted in 2025. Across both sites, it brings the best riders in the world to Lake Placid for one final weekend.
You don't have to follow the racing to enjoy the weekend. Both venues have live entertainment, food and drinks, and family activities. The town of Lake Placid fills with mountain bike events throughout. Early October is also one of the best times to be in the Adirondacks, when fall color spreads across the peaks, so a race weekend doubles as a foliage trip. High Peaks Resort sits a short drive from both venues and within walking distance of everything in town. That makes it an easy home base for the weekend. Fall is a popular time to visit, so book your stay early.
