The Can-Am Rugby Tournament started in 1973 as an eight-team event put on by the Mountaineers Rugby Club, and it has grown into a mid-summer tradition that now draws more than 110 teams to the Adirondacks. The 2026 tournament, its 52nd edition, runs July 24 through 26 and is centered in Saranac Lake, with matches played across fields in the area. Between the level of play, the scale of the thing, and the famously social side of rugby culture, it's become one of the larger tournaments of its kind anywhere.

Saranac Lake sits about fifteen minutes from Lake Placid, which makes High Peaks Resort an easy home base for the weekend, whether you're playing, supporting a team, or just curious to catch a few matches. You get the energy of the tournament by day and the quieter side of Mirror Lake and Main Street back in Lake Placid when you want it. The weekend lands in peak Adirondack summer and rooms across the region go fast, so book your stay early.
