Can-Am Rugby Tournament

​The Can-Am Rugby Tournament, established in 1973 by the Mountaineers Rugby Club, is celebrating its 51st year from July 25 to 27, 2025, in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, New York. Recognized as one of the largest and best-run rugby events globally, the tournament has grown from an inaugural eight-team competition to hosting over 110 teams annually. This mid-summer tradition attracts rugby enthusiasts from across the United States and Canada, fostering spirited competition and camaraderie in the heart of the Adirondacks. 

Beyond the matches, the tournament emphasizes community engagement and youth development. Proceeds support scholarships at local high schools and colleges, including Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, and Lake Placid High Schools, North Country Community College, and Paul Smith’s College. Additionally, the event funds local youth sports teams and programs, such as Pee Wee Hockey and Little League.
