Lake Placid Sinfonietta
The Lake Placid Sinfonietta is the Orchestra of the Adirondacks, an ensemble of professional musicians who play with orchestras across the country and gather in Lake Placid each summer to perform together. That mix of players gives the orchestra its particular sound, polished and a little more personal than a typical concert hall, and the 2026 season runs from July 8 through August 16. Programs range from full classical masterworks to lighter pops evenings, with intimate chamber performances woven through the summer.
The easiest way to hear them is also free. Every Wednesday evening, the Sinfonietta plays an outdoor concert at Mid's Park on the shore of Mirror Lake, the same water High Peaks Resort looks out on, so you can walk over, find a spot on the grass, and listen as the light fades over the lake. Ticketed Symphony Series concerts offer the fuller classical programs in a more formal setting, and the orchestra also travels to venues around the region for its Adirondack Series. Schedules and venues shift through the season, so it's worth checking their calendar to see what's playing during your stay.
